I have been selected by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Georgia Chapter as a member of Atlanta's The ONE Group. Honorees were selected based on their professional and philanthropic accomplishments, as well as their commitment to making a difference in the communities in which they live and work. I, along with others, will be honored at The ONE Party on November 7, 2013 at The Estate from 7:30 pm – 11:00 pm. This exciting evening includes a presentation of honorees, cocktails, great food, music and dancing!
I have been involved with JDRF since I was diagnosed with T1D 22 years ago through various activities such as participating in walk-a-thons and serving as a mentor to newly diagnosed families. I often joke that I am the “bionic woman” with a remote-control insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor always stuck to some part of my body, but breakthroughs in scientific research led by JDRF have directly contributed to my quality of life, allowing me to be a competitive swimmer, run marathons, complete my first triathlon, and conquer any other crazy feat of physical fitness I could dream up, despite this chronic disease.
We have come so far in the past 22 years, but JDRF needs our continued support until a cure is found. As an honoree, I have pledged to raise at least $2500 for JDRF. I would like to invite you to support me in this very worthy cause. I would sincerely appreciate any contributions that you can make. For those of you near Atlanta, please join me at The Estate on November 7th.
Thanks so much,
Sarah
